Literacy Council of LeFlore County is: |
- A non-profit organization in 1985 to provide
tutorial assistance in reading, writing and other literacy
skills to adults
- Dedicated to erasing illiteracy in LeFlore
County and raising awareness of the devastating effects of
illiteracy on our communities.
- Equipped to handle any level of adult learner,
from severe to moderate.
- Constantly training individuals to be the most
effective tutors possible.
- Open to anyone who wants to learn, regardless
of gender, religion and income level.
- Always free and confidential.

Literacy Council of LeFlore County Provides:

- Adult literacy training on a one to one basis.
- Classes arranged to fit the learner's schedule.
- English as a second language classes in Poteau and
Heavener.
- Tutor training workshops for certification of volunteer
tutors.
- Referrals to other programs, such as GED prep classes.
- Family literacy programs
- Family night Jump Start program
- Presentations for civic, church or school groups
